BTCCSquare news:

The UK Financial Conduct Authority has lifted restrictions on retail access to cryptocurrency exchange-traded notes, signaling regulatory recognition of crypto's evolving maturity. Approved cETNs must trade on FCA-recognized UK exchanges, with strict financial promotion rules ensuring investor protections.

'The market has evolved, and products have become more mainstream and better understood,' said David Geale, the FCA's executive director of payments and digital finance. The MOVE expands consumer choice while maintaining safeguards - though notably excludes FSCS coverage, requiring investors to acknowledge inherent risks.

This decision forms part of the FCA's broader crypto regulatory roadmap, following recent stablecoin proposals. Notably, the ban on crypto derivatives remains unchanged, reflecting continued regulatory caution around more complex products.
